Perhaps they should be excused. After all, being science students, they ain’t supposed to know no history. Even the super intelligent, meritorious ones, unless they study for civil services exams.
From the ones who have been never on a hunger strike, the ones who are perpetually hungry get lessons. On everything.
I must say Pratap Bhanu Mehta’s letter to the Indian Prime Minister is nothing but a prose version of the above slogan. Unlike the medical students who get their dates wrong, Mehta, who resigned from the National Knowledge Commission yesterday, deserves a not so flippant response. And he shall get that. Soon.
